In Teams, a conference phone call means connecting a regular phone line to a meeting as an audio participant — not merging two mobile calls the way an old three-way call did. The person on the phone hears the whole meeting and speaks like everyone else. Microsoft states that participants, presenters, and organizers can all use the dial-in and dial-out calling features.
The numbers that appear on a meeting invite come from your organization’s audio conferencing bridge, and each number is either shared across the company or dedicated to one organizer. The invite only shows them when Audio Conferencing is enabled and licensed on the organizer’s account. Some deployments also include a Find a local number link so callers outside the main region can reach a closer number.
Join A Teams Meeting By Phone
Two ways to get your own phone line into the meeting before it starts: dial the number from the invite, or let Teams call you.
Dial in from the invite. Open the Teams meeting invite and you’ll see a dial-in number plus a conference ID. Call the number, enter the conference ID when prompted, press 1 or say OK to join, and your audio connects to the meeting. Use Call me. This option skips dialing altogether. In the Teams calendar, open the meeting and choose Join, then select more join options and pick Call me. Enter your phone number, Teams calls you back, and once you answer and confirm the prompt, your audio connects automatically. You never touch the conference ID.
