  5. Repeat if necessary.

After the water runs clear, the job is done. Lock the cap back on and store the bottle upright. The chemical is corrosive, so spills should be cleaned up immediately.

The “hot, but not boiling” instruction matters more than most people think. Boiling water can warp PVC pipes and can also cause a chemical reaction that makes the cleaner splatter upward out of the drain. Hot tap water is sufficient to flush the dissolved material through.
